Sample Itinerary: San
Juan Islands
Day One
Enjoy the welcome reception aboard Kayana as you arrive in Roche Harbor. You will meet your crew who will be happy to give you a tour of the Kayana and show you to your stateroom. If you like, take one of our tenders and explore the many smaller private islands that abound in the area, or just cruise
by the big yachts which come in from all over the world – look out, you might see Paul Allen or Bill Gates! Drop a crab pot while you are out before enjoying the culinary delights of the master chef while you take in an introductory dinner cruise. Cruise past Speiden Island which used to be a hunting preserve. Look carefully, you'll still see game from Africa roaming the Island.
Day Two
Enjoy your breakfast while your crew pulls away from the dock and cruises the beautiful waters of the San Juan Islands. You will get a true feel of the northwest and all of its grandeur. Stop at Lopez Island, a nature lovers dream and nicknamed the “friendly island”. Drop anchor at the beautiful Rosario Resort on Orcas Island. This horseshoe shaped island is a magical mix of lush forests, placid lakes, and stunning mountains, all wrapped around a beautiful fjord. Dine while at anchor, then enjoy an evening dip in the hot tub or a glass of wine on the upper deck.
Day Three
Spend your morning touring the famed Rosario Resort. The resort was completed in 1909 and is listed on the National Historic Register of Historic Places. Be sure to visit the Moran Museum at Rosario Resort before heading off to enjoy the sites of Orcas Island. After a day of site seeing and shopping, enjoy your dinner while cruising past Shaw Island with its beautiful landscapes and wildlife towards Roche Harbor.
Day Four
The San Juan Islands are famous for their Dungeness crab, Ling and rock cod, oysters, shrimp and clams. Spend the morning fishing for these delectable treats or head over to the quaint town of Friday Harbor on San Juan Island. There is even a bike rental shop if you would like to take a leisurely ride on the island. After dinner relax in the hot tub, curl up with the perfect book, or take advantage of the extended summer daylight by taking the kayaks out for a trip around the marina. You may have company as the seals are curious and like to poke their heads above the water to see what you are up to. At sunset take a stroll to the Flag Pavilion right in the marina and watch the colors Ceremony.
Day Five
After your breakfast on the aft deck of the Kayana, take the short hike to the gorgeous Mausoleum and explore some of the rich history of Roche Harbor. When you return, board the 30’ Boston Whaler and spend the afternoon watching the dolphins and whales while enjoying the picnic lunch the crew packed for you. Relax after dinner and watch a movie in our cinema surround sound media room with a complete on-demand movie system, start up a game of Scrabble, or relax in the privacy of your stateroom with a good book or movie on your private entertainment system.
Day Six
Spend the day pampering yourself with a spa treatment right on board! Your Captain will be happy to arrange your treatments for you. Take a sea kayaking trip out onto the beautiful waters of Haro Strait and enjoy the wildlife. Visit British Camp, the site of the Pig War; the war between the U.S. and Britain. Watch for bald eagles – they nest in the trees all around you. Or simply sit back with a good book while having your every need attended to by your own personal crew.
Day Seven
Enjoy your farewell breakfast on the Kayana.
Note:
Katania will have the same
itinerary, but the cruising days will be day four and
five.
